I'm glad you noticed how effective the construction of these stories were, You maybe surprised to know that I actually wrote both those stories in reverse. By that I mean I planned and wrote the final climax first then I went back and worked out how to get to that climax. So you can see that in both stories the conversation was mainly completed very early in the process.
