Story 103 Part A Background.

Posted by Allan, Anne & Susan.
The trial scene is the next part of this larger story about the two girls, Amita and Hansini, deciding to get back at Steve.
As we saw two weeks ago, things went wrong and got totally out of control. In the end, the men, led by Mike had to mount a rescue to save Steve. This gets the men thinking, Mike and Sarvesh decide that the two girls needed to be ‘punished’ for going too far. They decide upon a mock trial, which is the major theme of this week’s story.
This was always going to be a hard story to write. It is almost completely conversation from the trial. I strongly suggest that you go back and read Story 100 Setting Steve Up and Story 101 The Worlds Greatest Lover, then the ending of Story 102 Katrina's Story Part Five. Events from those stories will be mentioned throughout this story so by reading the original versions you will be able to tell who is telling the truth and who is a false witness, ‘lying’ in court.
We worked over these conversations many times but I still feel there could be more done if we had the time. Anyway, publishing is on top us this week so I have to let it go as it is now.
The main ideas that we wanted to capture here are that this was hopeless for the girls. No matter what they say or do, there is no way they were going to be allowed to win their case. They realised this from the beginning but we wanted to capture how Hansini changed from a fun mood to frustration, until finally she was resigned to her fate. I also wanted to catch the way different witnesses were for or against the girls and modified their testimonies accordingly.
Considering the way they were being set-up Hansini put up a brave fight. Shandra says in her letter that at one point she thought the girls might actually win their case. We all know Mike and Sarvesh would never have allowed that to happen, they had the outcome determined before they started.
So enjoy this story. It is something a bit different. Hope you like it.
